Oops! Comstock Park budget off by $400K

Oops! Comstock Park budget off by $400K
"Instead of $931,000 in its reserve fund, the district has just under $540,000 and now district leaders are working with accountants to sort it all out.
Basically, in June 2008, the school board approved a 2008/2009 budget with a reserve fund of $931,000. Then auditors did their annual audit and found the fund was off by about $400,000."

This is a SCHOOL district.
And it doesn't sound like a simple mistake.

Michigan State University raises tuition, but covers its costs

Michigan State University raises tuition, but covers its costs
"Michigan State University will raise tuition by 1.2 percent but students won't have to pay the higher rate until summer.
Technically the tuition increase announced Friday takes effect with the spring semester. But the university will cover the cost, meaning students wouldn't have to pay higher rates until summer.
Many students don't take summer classes and would not feel the effects of the higher rate until next fall.
The university said higher tuition rates are needed because state aid has been less than anticipated.
The higher rates would have a freshman from Michigan taking 15 credits pay $4,721.25 for a semester. That's $56.25 more than this fall.
Michigan State raised tuition 6.8 percent headed into this fall."

Where Is Obama Going?

Where Is Obama Going?
"So what we thought was a promise was a goal. What we thought was an unqualified timetable is not. What we thought was his determination to issue new orders really wasn’t. But whatever he committed to the American people he is still committing. (There are only so many questions one can ask, but Brokaw might have asked how his vote to cut off funding immediately figured into all of this.)
Can you imagine if he had said this during the primary? Hillary Clinton would be the one with the White House redecorating plans now. (I can understand why McCaskill was pleading to get back to the economy.)"

Shelby eyeing big wind farm

Shelby eyeing big wind farm
"John Deere Wind Energy in conjunction with Michigan Wind LLC of Big Rapids is proposing a wind farm that would include 30 turbines at 60 megawatts just east of Hart. If the township board approves and economic studies continue to be favorable, it could be constructed by 2010, developers said during an informational meeting Thursday at Elbridge Township Hall."

It would be interesting to see how much federal, state, local tax money is going into these projects.

$3.4M cleanup to restore lake shoreline

$3.4M cleanup to restore lake shoreline
"The Great Lakes Commission donated the first $50,000 for the project and NOAA is seeking Congressional approval of another $1.5 million for the initiative. The remaining funds are expected to come from federal agencies."

"Clean" is nice but "broke" is what's going on.

How many thousands of similar projects are sucking our future dry?

Do democrats really hate average Americans?

Representative Tim Walberg:
"U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) introduced a discharge petition in the House on Tuesday to bring the No More Excuses Energy Act, legislation to increase U.S. energy production and invest in alternative sources of energy, to the House floor for a vote. House rules state that a discharge petition must have 218 signatures (a simple majority) in order to bring a bill to the floor for a vote.
As of this afternoon, 139 members signed the petition."

Think about it.
The democrat party bosses are keeping this bill from even being VOTED on!
Their dream of a socialist utopia may not be far from happening in our USA.
